Pediatric Dentistry

Patients of all ages are welcome at Oasis Family Dental, and we work hard to make our practice warm and inviting for every member of the family. Our dental care experts take great pride in serving children and teens and providing them with positive dental foundations that can last a lifetime. By starting early, your child is more likely to maintain great-looking teeth and positive oral health as they grow older. Our team looks forward to helping your child through every step of their dental development so that they can enjoy a lifetime of healthy teeth.

The First Visit

Parents are encouraged to bring in their child for their first dental visit between the ages of six months and one year. By this time, the first teeth should have begun emerging. Our experts will thoroughly examine your child’s initial teeth and their supporting structures to make sure that everything appears normal. During this time, parents are free to ask any questions they have about providing proper oral care for their child. We will also use this opportunity to share important information regarding issues like teething, cavity prevention, brushing and flossing techniques, thumb sucking and more.

Kids’ Complete Checkups

Even younger patients should visit our practice at least twice per year for complete dental checkups. These regularly scheduled visits allow our team to keep track of your child’s oral development and to provide timely treatment if any issues are discovered. A complete checkup will include a professional teeth cleaning, digital X-rays when necessary, an oral cancer screening and a fluoride application if needed. We also like to use this time to check for any signs of cavities or tooth decay.

Preventive Treatments

A child’s younger years are the best time to provide certain types of preventive treatments. These methods are very effective in preventing the need for more extensive, time-consuming treatments in your child’s teenage or adult years. Some of the most popular types of preventive treatments for children include sealants, fluoride applications, spacers, and mouth guards for children who play contact sports.

Sealants

Sealants work to block harmful bacteria and acids from causing damage to teeth by directly accessing teeth. They also smooth out deep grooves and fissures to make teeth easier to clean. Because baby teeth tend to feature deep grooves and fissures, they are often great candidates for dental sealants. This makes sealants particularly beneficial for young children.

Restorations

When a young person experiences a flawed or damaged smile due to poor tooth growth or oral injury, it can be devastating to their confidence. Our team considers it to be immensely important to provide children and teens with top-quality dental restorations every single time. In the event that your child ever requires a filling, crown, bridgework or veneers, they will always receive top-quality care at Oasis Family Dental.

Emergency Dentistry

With the active lives that children and teens live, it’s no surprise that a large number of dental emergencies affect younger patients. When your child experiences an oral injury or damages a tooth, it can be a particularly scary experience for everyone involved. Fortunately, our team will be there to help you and your child get through this tough time by providing the best care possible and making your child feel comfortable. If your child ever experiences a dental emergency, you can know that the caring experts at Oasis Family Dental will be there from start to finish.

Fluoride Applications

Many children benefit from supplemental fluoride applications that are designed to strengthen tooth enamel and prevent tooth decay. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that provides positive dental effects when it is applied directly to a child’s teeth. Our supplemental fluoride applications can be completed with relative ease, and many children receive one alongside a complete dental checkup for convenience purposes.
